December 23rd is my birthday. The 23rd of December was raining buckets all day long here in Thailand. Since the weather was so crappy and I still had 15 hours of my birthday left in California on the 24th of December in here, I decided to appropriate Christmas Eve as my birthday as well.
Anyways since it was raining, I thought it would be a good idea for the Ranting Jamaican to go to Kingston Jamaica …… the restaurant. This restaurant just happened to be across the street from our hotel (The Lamoon Lamai Residence). Here’s a picture of the bar, yes that is a Jamaican themed bar/restaurnat in Thailand!
Their Jerk Chicken Wings really sucked, but their Thai food was good. I ordered fried rice and pad thai in addition to my Jerk Chicken Wings. Later on that night Crystal and I went back to Kingston for drinks. This was really all that happened on day 1 of my birthday. Crappy I know but what can I say it was raining all day. Anyways it’s always great to spend quality time with Crystal so it’s all good. Usually I would get extremely drunk on my birthday but walking is dangerous enough in Thailand so I don’t feel the need to add both drunkenness and slippery sidewalks to the obstacles.
Day 2 started out pretty early we got a “taxi” to the Bophut Big Buddha Pier at about 8:45 AM. The reason why the taxi is in quotes is because it was really a pick-up truck with benches in the back. From the pier we took a ferry over to Koh Phangan and then a Taxi to Mae Haad where we went snorkeling. It was a really great trip and it was a great activity for my birthday. There was a sand bar between Mae Haad and Koh Ma, which is where people go snorkeling. I think when we were there it was high tide so the sand bar was less than a foot underwater in some places and in others was up to 4 feet underwater. So it was possible to wade across to Koh Ma fairly easily. In that last picture you can see people walking across the sandbar towards Koh Ma.
On the way back from Koh Phangan we got a nice view of the sunset. This is one of the pictures of our serene view that was such a great end of my second birthday day of my 27th birthday.
